Shipping Instructions

Correctly packaging your media or device is a critical first step of ensuring your data will be properly recovered. If you have any questions about packaging your device that is not answered here, please contact LuciData with your questions. Otherwise, consider these procedures:

1. If possible, remove the media from your desktop computer; get expert help if you find you cannot remove it yourself. Please do not remove media from your laptop. Send complete laptop, including the power cord.

2. Avoid Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), which is often called "static electricity". Before moving your computer, hard drive or other media, discharge any personal static electricity build up by touching a grounded metal object. Handle media delicately.

3. Wrap the media (hard drive, tape, floppy, Jaz, ZIP, PDA, etc.) in an anti-static bag or soft foam.

4. We recommend that you should use a box that is twice the size of the media so that the media can be suspended in the box, yet the box should be small enough to prevent it from shifting around during shipping. If at all possible, use the original shipping materials.

5. Pack the box securely with molded foam or bubble wrap. This will prevent the media from moving from the middle of the box. Do not use packing peanuts.

6. Ensure you clearly label your package as FRAGILE, and don't forget to include the completed and signed forms.

7. If there are any specific files you need recovered, please include a list of those files.

8. It’s recommended that you use UPS or FedEx for shipping.
